Regala rose to prominence in the 1980s as a member of the popular television show That’s Entertainment, captivating audiences with his charisma and talent. He soon earned a reputation as the “Bad Boy” of Philippine action films, sharing the title with renowned actors Robin Padilla and the late Ace Vergel. His antagonist roles in action movies and teleseryes of the 1990s solidified his position as one of the most recognized faces in the industry.

His talent was widely recognized, and in 1994, Regala received a nomination for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ at the prestigious Gawad Urian Awards for his outstanding performance in The Fatima Buen Story. In 2011, he clinched the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ award at the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival for his role in the critically acclaimed film Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story. In August 2020, Regala’s battle with liver cirrhosis became public knowledge when he was hospitalized.
