Born as John Paul Guido Boucher Scherrer on September 12, 1967, Regala left an indelible mark on the industry with his remarkable performances and controversial life journey. Beyond his on-screen portrayals, Regala’s dedication to environmental causes and his personal transformation was evident in his resilience and unwavering spirit.

Regala rose to prominence in the 1980s as a member of the popular television show That’s Entertainment, captivating audiences with his charisma and talent. He soon earned a reputation as the “Bad Boy” of Philippine action films, sharing the title with renowned actors Robin Padilla and the late Ace Vergel. His antagonist roles in action movies and teleseryes of the 1990s solidified his position as one of the most recognized faces in the industry.

His talent was widely recognized, and in 1994, Regala received a nomination for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ at the prestigious Gawad Urian Awards for his outstanding performance in The Fatima Buen Story. In 2011, he clinched the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ award at the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival for his role in the critically acclaimed film Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story. These accolades showcased his versatility as an actor and his ability to bring depth and complexity to his characters.

Throughout his career, Regala portrayed numerous iconic roles, leaving an enduring impact on Philippine cinema. Over time, he became a Christian minister, further exemplifying his resilience and determination.

Regala’s transformation extended beyond his personal life. He became an environmentalist, passionate about preserving nature and promoting sustainability. As the President and CEO of Project Green Evolution, Inc., he championed initiatives that aimed to protect the environment. His work included the development of the Water Bonsai Organic Root Grower, a product that showcased his commitment to eco-friendly solutions.

In August 2020, Regala’s battle with liver cirrhosis became public knowledge when he was hospitalized. Despite his health challenges, he continued to inspire others with his unwavering spirit and positive outlook. Tragically, on June 3, 2023, Regala passed away at the age of 55 due to cardiac arrest resulting from liver and kidney complications.
