LaMarcus Aldridge Biography
Aldridge was born on July 19, 1985, in Dallas, Texas, U.S. He attended Seagoville High School and upgrade at the University of Texas at Austin.
Before his successful NBA career, Aldridge played college basketball for the Texas Longhorns, where he showcased his talents as a second-team Parade All-American and TABC Class 4A Player of the Year. As a highly sought-after recruit, Aldridge chose to attend the University of Texas at Austin and deferred his entry into the NBA draft in 2004.
However, Aldridge eventually decided to leave college after his second year to enter the 2006 NBA draft, where he was selected second overall by the Chicago Bulls. He was later traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, where he spent nine seasons and established himself as one of the best power forwards in the league.
During his tenure with the Trail Blazers, Aldridge was a seven-time NBA All-Star and was selected to five All-NBA teams. Despite facing injury setbacks, such as plantar fasciitis, he continued to excel on the court and even finished third in voting for the NBA Most Improved Player Award in his second season.
In 2015, Aldridge signed with the San Antonio Spurs, adding another dimension to the team’s already impressive roster. He played with the Spurs for five seasons before being bought out in March 2021, which led him to sign with the Brooklyn Nets.
However, Aldridge’s stint with the Nets was short-lived. After only two weeks, he retired due to an irregular heartbeat, a medical condition that could have put his health at risk. Nevertheless, Aldridge received medical clearance to return to basketball and re-signed with the Nets in September 2021.
In October of the same year, Aldridge reached a career milestone, scoring his 20,000th point in the NBA, cementing his legacy as one of the league’s greatest players. He continued to play with the Nets until he announced his second retirement on March 31, 2023, ending a remarkable 17-year career.
